Dream and Memory

 Dream And Memory

Our brain is very complicated. Mysterious activities happen. Million of cells and neurons workout every second. Our body is controlled by Brain. "Yesterday, teacher asked me if I could participate in speech program", we remember. "I can't remember the last assignment, teacher gave to me", we forget.
We have memory. May be we are not memory expert who can remember the whole book in an hour, but we remember normal things that are important to our daily life.

Dream is another mysterious thing that plays inside brain. We dream every day. Some people may deny that they saw dream tonight, but that is not true. We dream every day and we deny it because we couldn't remember it. In fact, we dream longer when we are tired and go to bed.

So there came a question to my mind, is there any relation between Dream, Memory and Learning? I thought of experimenting to find the relation between Dream, Memory and Learning. Here, Learning doesn't mean being talent in exams rather it means self-learning capability or quick grabbing of new knowledge.

I had sample of 150 students of two different schools. I used questionnaire method for interviewing. What I found was really amazing. Those who could remember the last night dream had really good memory power. 46% of students said they remember their last night dream almost completely and these students had really good memory power. There was 71 % positive correlation between remembering dream and learning While 88 % positive correlation between high memory power and learning. In conclusion, remembering the last night dream or trying to remember the last night dream is fruitful for memory exercise.

Speaking to Memory doctor, Heredity plays a vital role in bodily function of human being including the memory power. But we can train our memory power with different brain teasing exercises like color tracking game, creating a story from words, linking the subject to interesting subject you know, etc.  There are different memory techniques that can be used in academic life like,
  • Mind Tools Mnemonic Grades.
  • Link Method - v. simple.
  • Number/Rhyme Mnemonic - simple, effective.
  • Number/Shape Mnemonic - simple, effective.
  • Alphabet System - more complex.
  • Journey Method - simple, powerful (Editor's choice)
  • Roman Room Method - simple, powerful.
